The White Hall Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the annual chamber college scholarship, according to Lydia Scholebo, chamber secretary.
Eligibility requirements include:
• Must be a White Hall High School senior planning to continue his or her education at an institution of higher education within the year the scholarship is awarded;
• Must rank in the upper one-half of the senior class and submit an official transcript;
• Submit two letters of recommendation, excluding relatives; one letter may be from school personnel;
• Must submit a statement requesting consideration for the scholarship and state why the applicant is worthy of the scholarship, plus other information that may be pertinent, including a brief history of school activities, employment, honors and extra-curricular activities.
In awarding the scholarship, the committee will consider scholarship, moral character, leadership and service. Financial need will be considered, but will not be the prime factor in naming the recipient, a chamber spokesman said.
Application forms are available at White Hall City Hall and from WHHS counselors. The applications must be postmarked by April 19 returned to the White Hall Chamber of Commerce, P.O. 20429, White Hall, Ark. 71612.
