Gandy Elementary students recently participated in the Ozark Water Project’s Used Shoe Drive. Donated shoes are exported to distributors in South America, Haiti and Kenya. Funds are also collected by exporting the shoes. These funds are used by the Ozark Water Project to go to these countries to build fresh water wells for those in need, as well as, water purification systems, and well-digging supplies. Gandy students collected over 1,100 pairs of shoes. Several classes reached their class goal and received ribbons for being Shoeper Stars. Those classes are Mrs. Akins’s 1st grade class, Mrs. Morris’s and Mrs. Spurlin’s 2nd Grade classes, and Mrs. Stringer’s 4th grade class. If you are interested in participating in a used shoe drive at your business, church, or school, please feel free to contact Ozark Water Project at (501) 626-0086 or (501) 231-1504
