The White Hall Planning Commission Monday evening unanimously voted to recommend the city’s aldermen rezone a large lot at Dollarway Road and Timber Lane from R-1 (single family) to C-2 (general commercial).
Surrounded on three sides by commercial property, the lot measures more than one and one-third acres and is bordered on the east by Dollarway.
The City Council must adopt an ordinance to rezone the lot.
Billy Fletcher petitioned the commission to recommend rezoning the land, which is for sale.
The staff planner recommended rezoning the front portion of the property from R-1 to C-2, while rezoning the balance C-1 (the more restrictive neighborhood commercial).
At the conclusion of a brief public hearing and commission meeting, Commissioner Dane Reed was elected commission chairman, succeeding Terry Smith in the post. Smith will remain on the commission.
