Biketoberfest event to celebrate all things bicycling

The Little Rock River Market, Chainwheel and Recycle Bikes for Kids will present the inaugural Biketoberfest event featuring Bikes, Beer, Music, Art and Fun on Sunday, Oct. 13 at the River Market Pavilions from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and will close the event with a Rockabilly Fun Ride at 3 p.m. through downtown Little Rock.

Event elements include the Rat Rod Build-off and Silent Auction. Builders have been collecting old bicycles and

parts to put together newly styled, custom Rat Rod bicycles of every shape imaginable. Builders will offer certain bikes at Silent Auction during this event, with the proceeds benefiting Recycle Bikes for Kids.

Spectators will have the opportunity to take in a show by The Southern BMX Stunt Show who will entertain

spectators with their high flying tricks and crazy bicycling skills, as well as an Urban Bike Trials demo featuring local riders performing amazing acts of balance and fluid motion as they hop, bounce, swing and flip in and around objects a traditional bicyclist would strictly avoid. Participants can join in the fun testing their balance and stamina during two activities, including the Adult Trike Race where full grown adults atop child sized tricycles and race to the finish line, and the Circle of Balance where riders follow an ever growing tighter circle of bikers without losing balance or bumping into one another.
