McNeese State (2-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Lucas Quary RBI single with two outs. Chayse Marion made it 2-0 in the fifth when hit a one-run single to right field.

From that point, Ware allowed no hits.

UAPB had a strong defensive effort in the bottom of the eighth, turning in three straight caught-stealing plays to end the frame.
