Arkansas-Pine Bluff is the black college football national runner-up for 2012.
The Golden Lions were ranked second in the final Sheridan Broadcasting Network black college poll, which was released Wednesday. It is their best finish in poll history.
They remained No. 2 following their 24-21 overtime victory over Jackson State on Saturday in the SWAC championship game.
Winston-Salem State of North Carolina finished No. 1 and repeated as black college national champion. The 14-0 Rams will play Valdosta State of Georgia this Saturday in the NCAA Division II national championship.
MEAC champion Bethune-Cookman (9-3) finished third, followed by Tuskegee (10-2), Tennessee State (8-3), Jackson State (7-5), Alabama State (7-4), Alabama A&M (7-4), Howard (7-4) and North Carolina A&T (7-4).
