A football game between Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Arkansas State for 2013 has not been set — yet.
Arkansas State sports information director Jerry Scott said Friday there is nothing to confirm with regards to a possible matchup between the two schools. Rumors of a game apparently picked up Friday after, according to Scott, Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir made comments about the possibility of such a game during a radio interview.
UAPB coach Monte Coleman also said he couldn’t confirm the matchup or any related details.
Talks about a game between UAPB and A-State began before the start of the 2011 season, but nothing was set in stone when Mohajir’s predecessor, Dean Lee, stepped down. Coleman’s son Kyle is a safety at A-State.
Football Championship Subdivision teams move to a 12-game season starting in 2013, meaning UAPB will need three nonconference opponents to fill its schedule.
