Arkansas-Pine Bluff football coach Monte Coleman said he hoped to have more players sign Thursday, a day after national signing day saw his team garner 13 signees.
But that didn’t turn out the case.
On his way to Washington, D.C., Coleman said the UAPB athletic department had not received any letters of intent from the players he expected to formally commit Thursday. That leaves the total of incoming Lions for the 2013 season at 15, counting two mid-year transfers.
Coleman is traveling to the nation’s capital to pick up the The Pigskin Club’s SWAC Coach of the Year. Senior defensive end Brandon Thurmond also is to be awarded the club’s SWAC Player of the Year trophy at the ceremony.
