MEMPHIS — Five Memphis (20-13) pitchers combined to allow just three hits in a 5-0 shutout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10-21) and the Tigers captured their sixth-straight win Wednesday at FedExPark.
Memphis’ Dylan Toscano pitched four innings and allowed just one hit with a strikeout. Colin Lee, Jon Reed, Conner Porter and Heith Hatfield pitched the next five innings, allowing just two hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.
Memphis scored a run in the first, three in the fourth and one in the fifth. They had 10 hits in the win.
Tucker Tubbs led Memphis with three hits and Drew Griffin had two RBIs on one hit and a run scored.
For UAPB, Tyler Oertle finished the game 2 for 4. Cody DeMera was 1 for 3 with a walk. Stanten Jones is credited with the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in 3 2/3 innings worked. He also struck out two.
UAPB will host SWAC opponent Grambling State for a three-game series this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, which starts at noon at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.
