DECATUR, Ala. — The Arkansas-Pine Bluff softball team managed just two hits as the Lady Lions were officially eliminated from the SWAC tournament on Thursday with a 10-1 loss in five innings to Jackson State in the loser’s bracket.
Jackson State (27-28) scored three runs in the first, thee in the fourth and three in fifth. UAPB (14-29) scored one run in the fourth inning.
Breea Jamerson took the win for Jackson State, after allowing just one run (earned) on two hits in five innings of work. She also walked six and struck out two.
Lacie Sutterfield was tagged with the loss after four innings of work. She allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits with two walks and no strikeouts. Heather Leigh pitched one inning, allowing three runs (all earned) on three hits with one walk.
Jasmine Warren led Jackson State at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Tayler Nave was 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Tahlisa Blosser was 1 for 1 with two RBIs and a run scored.
For UAPB, Jasmine Hardwrick was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Leigh was 1 for 1 with two walks and one RBI.
