Three Arkansas-Pine Bluff football players have been named to the Boxtorow Preseason All-America Team.
Redshirt junior quarterback Ben Anderson, offensive lineman Kenny Eagle and wide receiver Ladarius Eckwood were selected for the team, voted on by a select group of media representatives and organized by the radio show “From the Press Box to Press Row” (10-11 a.m. Saturdays, KUAP-FM 89.7).
Anderson is the only quarterback named to the Boxtorow team. This honor comes a month after he was named the preseason SWAC offensive player of the year.
Anderson threw for 2,346 yards and 16 touchdowns during UAPB’s 2012 SWAC championship season.
Much of his protection comes from Eagle, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound senior. He’s part of a line that helped UAPB lead the SWAC in rushing yards per game (200.1).
Eckwood, a redshirt senior, had 52 receptions for 787 yards and six touchdowns last season.
This is the seventh year of the Boxtorow Preseason All-America Team.
