Woodlawn wins in extras over Monticello


MONTICELLO —Jacob Richardson drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth inning to give Woodlawn a 5-4 win over Monticello on Monday.

Woodlawn (5-0) had a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Jordan Hashem’s RBI single tied the game for Monticello and sent it to extra innings.

Woodlawn’s Trey Hankins led off the top of the eighth with a single and scored from first base on Richardson’s RBI double.

Hankins also got the win as he went one inning and struck out the side. Richardson added a solo home run and had two RBIs and Blake Brown went 2-for-3.

For Monticello, Kameron Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Woodlawn plays at 4:30 p.m. today at home against Crossett.

Fordyce 10, Camden Fairview 6

FORDYCE — Fordyce jumped on Camden Fairview in the first two innings and held on for a 10-6 win on Monday.

Fordyce (2-0) scored five runs in the first inning and added three more in the second inning.

Cole Johnson got the win after pitching five innings and gave up three runs while striking out nine batters.

Johnson also had two hits along with Austin Tywater and Austin Hollis had one hit.

Fordyce plays Friday at Bearden.

DeWitt 11, Warren 0

WARREN — Warren was held to one hit in an 11-0 loss to DeWitt on Monday.

Logan Adams led off the bottom of the first for Warren (3-3) and that was the only hit the team would get.

Warren’s Drake Jones had a no-hitter going through 3 1/3 innings when DeWitt scored six runs by the end of the fourth inning. Jones went 3 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs on three hits, walked three and struck out four.

Warren plays Thursday at Dumas.
