White Hall’s Cook named All-Star

The Southeast Arkansas contingent for the Arkansas High School Coaches’ Associaton All-Star football game has grown.

Tim Cook of White Hall, the Southeast Arkansas Defensive Player of the Year, has been added to the East All-Star roster. White Hall coach Mike Vaughn confirmed Cook’s addition Tuesday.

Cook is the second of Vaughn’s Bulldogs and ninth from Southeast Arkansas to be selected for the game. Jeremy Sprinkle, a defensive lineman and wide receiver, was named an All-Star but will not play in the June 21 game at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Cook finished his senior season with 174 tackles including 11 sacks, helping White Hall win its first 5A-Southeast Conference championship since 2006 and reach its first state semifinal since 1991. He set school records for tackles in a season and a career (367).

When he was named the Defensive Player of the Year, he said he was challenged to become the leader of the Bulldogs’ defense.

Cook will play on the same All-Star team with McGehee’s Dale Bass and Deondrai Haynes, Stuttgart’s Ben Blankenship and Keith Humbert and Rison’s Quanterio Heath. Pine Bluff’s David Adams and Bryan Terry will play for the West.
