Watson Chapel breaks losing skid

STUTTGART — Watson Chapel halted a five-game losing skid in softball with an 8-6 win over Stuttgart on Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats (16-6) trailed 6-4 entering the final inning when Natalie Johnson tied things with a two-run home run and Paige Topping and Megan Moore added base hits and scored. Topping singled and scored on Moore’s double, and Moore crossed the plate on Sydney Crossett’s single.

Lexie Downing picked up the win in the circle with a complete-game effort. Jamie Bridges was 2 for 4.

Monticello 14, El Dorado 2

EL DORADO — Monticello used a 10-run second inning to dismantle El Dorado in a mid-week nonconference affair.

Morgan Hopper picked up the win, allowing five hits in the five-inning game.

Ashleigh White and Liz Bostian collected three hits each and drove in a pair, Morgan Searcy doubled twice, Parker Palsa drove in two and had two hits, Madelynn Gates had two hits and drove in one and Karyss Coleman finished with two hits and three RBIs.

Woodlawn 6,

Junction City 3

WOODLAWN — The Bears broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on to beat the Dragons in a key 7-2A East Conference clash.

Dillon Miller hit a two-run homer to give Woodlawn (19-3, 3-0 in 7-2A East) the lead. Trey Hankins then scored on a double by Jacob Richardson.

Junction City had just scored three runs in the top of the fifth.

Miller also scored on an RBI single by Gavin Johnston in the first inning and another RBI hit by Hankins. Ryan Dorsett scored on a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Miller pitched one-third inning for the win and hit 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Johnston worked the first two innings, not allowing a hit.

McGehee 8, Star City 7

McGEHEE — McGehee scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat Star City in 8-4A Conference play.

Jake Carr went 2 for 5 with a double and Drew Harvey singled twice for Star City (1-8, 5-5 in 8-4A).
