FAYETTEVILLE — Shiloh Christian won its third straight Class 4A title with a 4-0 over Lonoke, the team that knocked Dumas out of the state tournament.
Early in the game, Shiloh Christian pitcher Jacob Rhodes was taken out of the game due to a sore arm and replaced by David Petrino, who went on to strike out seven batters and collected two hits at the plate to earn the game’s MVP honors.
Shiloh Christian had a 2-0 lead before scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the victory. The Saints have appeared in the last four Class 4A state title games. This was Lonoke’s first title appearance since 1969.
Midland 5, Armorel 3
Midland held on for a 5-3 win to claim the Class 1A state title over Armorel on Saturday in Baum Stadium.
Midland had to hold off a late charge by Armorel as it got an insurance run late in the game to distance itself.
