Benton hands Zebras first conference loss


BENTON — Pine Bluff lost its first conference game of the season 8-6 to Benton on Tuesday in baseball action.

Pine Bluff (0-5, 0-1 6A South) gave up four runs early in the game before the Zebras scored six runs in the last two innings, but the rally fell short.

Ryan Green took the loss as he gave up 10 hits, eight runs, three walks and struck out three batters in six innings.

Caleb Lacey drove in two runs for Pine Bluff and Larry Williams and Adam Graham had two runs each.

Pine Bluff plays at 5 p.m. today against Little Rock McClellan at J.A. Fair’s field.

Watson Chapel 18-11, LR Mills 2-0

LITTLE ROCK — Watson Chapel swept Little Rock Mills 18-2 and 11-0 on Tuesday.

In the first game, Zach Bradford struck seven batters and V.J. Dickson hit a home run. Watson Chapel (6-4, 2-0 5A-Southeast) had almost every player have two or three hits.

In the second game, Justin Dardenne started and went two innings and struck out five batters, Josh Dardenne pitched four innings and also struck out five batters.

Landon Colson, Bradford and Josh Dardenne each had two hits.

Watson Chapel was schedule to play Marked Tree on Friday, but Marked Tree has forfeited. Watson Chapel plays at 4 p.m. on Thursday at home against Sheridan.

Warren 13, Lake Village 1

WARREN — Warren picked up its first conference win with a 13-1 victory over Lake Village in five innings Tuesday.

Justin Hall pitched four innings and struck out six batters in the win as Troy Sellers scored three runs and drove in a batter. Dylan Rook and Randy Gorman had two RBIs for Warren (4-4, 1-2 8-4A) and Logan Adams had 3 stolen bases and two runs.

Warren plays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Star City.

Fordyce 5, McGehee 4

MCGEHEE — Fordyce scored five runs in the first two innings and held on to be McGehee 5-4 on Tuesday.

For McGehee (1-2, 1-1 8-4A), Jared Carter pitched five innings, struck out five and walked four in the loss. Laquintin Allen drove in two runs.

No stats were available for Fordyce.

McGehee plays at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at home against DeWitt.

SOFTBALL

Watson Chapel 14-7, Crossett 1-13

Watson Chapel split a home doubleheader with Crossett as the Lady Wildcats won the first game 14-1 before falling 13-7 in the second.

Maegen Greer got the win in the first game for Watson Chapel (2-2, 1-1 5A-Southeast) as she with five innings and struck out eight batters. Natalie Johnson was 3-for-3 at the plate.

In game two, Lexie Downing took the loss and went five innings. Johnson, Sydney Crossett and Downing each had two hits.

Watson Chapel plays on March 26 against North Little Rock

BOYS SOCCER

Lake Hamilton 5, Sheridan 1

LAKE HAMILTON — After scoring the first goal, Lake Hamilton scored five unanswered to beat Sheridan 5-1 on Tuesday.

Micah Parker scored Sheridan’s (3-4) goal as the team had 12 shots on goal for the game.

Sheridan plays March 26 against J.A. Fair.
