LL district final set

WHITE HALL — Pine Bluff Western advanced to the championship game of the Little League 12-year-old District 3 tournament after beating Hot Springs 14-0 in four innings Friday at the White Hall City Park little league field.

Hot Springs was no-hit in the loss and did not get a base runner until there was one out in the fourth inning and drew back-to-back walks.

JaKobi Jackson hit a grand slam for Pine Bluff Western, which was one of two home runs that he hit. Braelon Hence also hit a home run.

Jackson also started the game on the mound and struck out all five batters he faced. Drew Raines, Blake Hence and Trent Goodman combined with Jackson to throw the no-hitter.

Pine Bluff Western plays White Hall at 6 p.m. today at White Hall City Park at the little league field. If Pine Bluff wins, a second game will be played at 8 p.m. due to the double-elimination rule since White Hall has not lost in the tournament yet. If White Hall wins, it wins the district championship.


PB Northern 6, Hazen 4

LONOKE — Pine Bluff Northern advanced to play Hot Spring County or the District 1 champion at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. No statistics were available.

White Hall will play the Lake Village vs. Brinkley winner at 1:30 p.m. today.


Sheridan vs. Fat City, late

SHERIDAN — Rain in the area pushed back Friday’s schedule of the Junior American Legion state tournament. Sheridan and Jonesboro Fat City played late Friday, and the result of that game was not available at press time.

Sheridan, with a win, will play at 7:30 tonight against the Cabot vs. Paragould Glen Sain winner. With a loss, Sheridan will play the loser at 2:30 today.

Texarkana vs. Jonesboro Armor

SHERIDAN — After blowing an 8-0 lead, Texarkana scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-9 walk-off win over Jonesboro Armor on Friday.

Texarkana had an 8-0 lead after five innings before Jonesboro scored six runs in the sixth and three in the seventh for a 9-8 lead.

Jake Alexander scored three runs for Texarkana and Jacob Stutton scored two runs and drove in another for Jonesboro.

Texarkana plays Jacksonville at 5 p.m. today. Jonesboro Armor plays Genoa at noon today.

Genoa vs. Jacksonville

Sheridan — Jacksonville came back from a 12-7 deficit in the seventh inning to beat Genoa 16-12 on Friday.

With the game tied at 7 going into the bottom of the fifth, Genoa scored five runs to take the 12-7 lead.

But Jacksonville scored five runs without Genoa being able to record an out in the top of the seventh. Jacksonville put four more runs on the board to take the lead.

Derek St. Claire scored three runs for Jacksonville and Troy Allen, Kaleb Reeves and Justin Abbott all drove in two runs.

For Genoa, Cody Huff scored four runs, Nick Purifoy drove in three and Lane Hughes scored three runs.

Jacksonville plays at 5 p.m. today against Texarkana. Genoa plays at noon against Jonesboro Armor.
