NASHVILLE, Ark. — A couple of one-run losses eliminated American Legion teams Pine Bluff National Bank and Wingstop from their respective Dixie Baseball state tournaments Sunday.
PBNB (17-and-under) reached the semifinals of its six-team tournament before being eliminated by Palestine 8-7.
Wingstop (19-and-under) made it to the championship of its three-team tournament but fell to Camden 4-3 in the championship game to finish in second place.
With its win, Camden qualifies for the Senior American Legion World Series in North Charleston, S.C. According to Wingstop head coach Johnny Skillen, there is a significant chance Camden will not be able to make the trip because of a lack of players. If that were to happen, Wingstop, because of its runner-up status, would then be given the opportunity to represent Arkansas in the World Series.
