Relyance Bank takes fourth in state tourney


HARRISON — Relyance Bank finished in fourth place in the AA American Legion State Tournament Monday in Harrison.

Relyance fell to Lonoke 9-5 to finish in the top half of the eight-team field.

According to Relyance coach Justin Holt, Jake Green had a pair of hits and pair of RBIs in the game.

Relyance lost its opening game of the tournament 10-0 to tourney host Harrison on Saturday night.

Relyance bounced back to win a pair of games on Sunday behind two stellar pitching performances.

In the first game, Relyance defeated Hot Springs Village 3-1 as Cade Canada gave up just one run in a complete game effort.

In the second game, Hunter Hale threw a nine-inning shutout in Relyance’s 1-0 win over Hot Springs Lakeside.

Relyance’s Landon Reed drove in Conner Freeman in the top of the ninth to give his team the lead in extra innings.
