Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter confirmed to MLB.com Wednesday that he plans on making a donation to help with relief efforts in the wake of the tornado that damaged the town of Moore, Okla.
According to multiple reports, the Pine Bluff native had pledged on Twitter to donate $1,000 for every home run hit this season. He only has one homer so far, and MLB.com reported that Hunter decided to make a flat donation after feedback from fans.
The amount of Hunter’s donation has not been specified.
Hunter went 2 for 4 with two runs scored Wednesday in an 11-7 Tigers victory over the Cleveland Indians. On Thursday, he was 1 for 3 in a 7-6 win over the Minnesota Twins.
