Lakeside sweeps White Hall

HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs Lakeside swept the White Hall volleyball team 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-21) Thursday night.

White Hall drops to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the 5A-South conference. The Lady Bulldogs will host Magnolia on Tuesday.

Cornerstone edges Ridgway

The Ridgway Christian volleyball team lost to Cornerstone 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 9-15) Thursday night at home in Pine Bluff.

Brandi Battle had 15 kills and Allison Carpenter had 10 kills. Babylyn Rosadino had 11 assists and Paige Topping had 13 assists.

Ridgway drops to 4-7 and 2-2 in the conference.

In the junior high game, Ridgway defeated Cornerstone Christian 2-1 (21-25, 25-10, 25-20).

Carpenter had six kills and Meredith Drake had 16 aces.

The junior high squad improves to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Ridgway will play Southwest Christian Academy on Monday.

Clemson edges NC State in ACC opener

Raleigh, N.C. — Tajh Boyd had three touchdown passes to help No. 3 Clemson to a 26-14 win over North Carolina State on Thursday night.

Boyd finished the game 24-for-37 for 244 yards and added 38 yards on 13 carries for the Tigers (3-0, 1-0 ACC), who were coming off a bye week after opening the season with wins over Georgia and South Carolina State.
