Boston butt sale for Arkansas Cobras

The Arkansas Cobras, a youth baseball team including players from Pine Bluff, Redfield, Star City and McGehee, are having a Boston butt sale to raise money for a trip to the USSSA World Series in Orange Beach, Ala.

Donations are welcome. To order, call 692-2986, 870-370-2407 or 870-370-0317. The orders will be available for pick-up or delivery June 29.

The cost is $30 each and will feed 15-20 people.

Older Mustangs win Pre-National Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE — The Pine Bluff Arkansas Mustangs ninth- and 10th-grade team won the third annual Arkansas Mustang Pre-National Tournament this past weekend, competing against teams from Fayetteville, Oklahoma and Missouri.

In the seventh-grade division, the Pine Bluff Mustangs came in second place. They also took on teams from Fayetteville, Oklahoma and Missouri.

The next tournament is the Hoop Play USA in Bryant on June 22.

NASCAR driver killed in dirt race

BRIDGEPORT, N.J. — NASCAR driver Jason Leffler died after an accident in a dirt car event on Wednesday night at Bridgeport Speedway. He was 37.

According to the South Jersey Times, New Jersey State Police confirmed that Leffler was driving a 410 sprint car when he struck a wall at this 5/8-mile high-banked dirt track. He was competing in a qualifying race when the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. ET. Emergency crews were called to the track.

Leffler had to be extricated from his car. He was reportedly unconscious after the accident happened and had suffered major injuries. Leffler was transported by helicopter to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in nearby Chester, Pa. He was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m.
