The Pine Bluff Braves will play their home opener at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Little Rock Rangers in a scheduled semi-pro baseball doubleheader at the Seabrook Family Christian Center.
The doubleheader is known as the second annual James Bradley and Burl Smith Memorial. Bradley was the founder and owner of Bradley Park, where the Braves started in 1952 and played until 1984. Smith was the president and general manager from 1952-2010, when he passed away, and was the last surviving member of the four founders of the Braves (Claude Baker and James Seawood were the other two).
Several members of the 1957 Braves squad will be on hand along with Charles Lambert, who played for the Braves in six decades. Lambert will dress out and play.
