Arkansas-Pine Bluff basketball

Sophomore, Watson Chapel

Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Alcorn State 50-46 on Tuesday. Rollins did not play. UAPB is now 12-17 on the year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the SWAC tournament to face Southern University.

Junior, Watson Chapel

On February 28, UAPB defeated Mississippi Valley State 78-70 in overtime in its final game of the season. Broughton scored eight points on 2 of 5 shooting including 4 of 8 at the free throw line. He also had eight rebounds. UAPB was banned from the postseason.

JUQUECIA CHANEY

Delta State (Miss.) basketball

Freshman, Star City

Delta State lost 68-57 to Alabama-Huntsville in the SWAC Tournament on March 9. Chaney scored five points including 3 of 4 from the free throw line. She also had two rebounds. Delta State will face the University of North Alabama in the NCAA South Region WBB Tournament at Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on March 15.

SHABR’AN RICHARDSON

Alabama A&M basketball forward

Freshman, Dumas

Alabama A&M lost 52-45 to Jackson State on March 2. Richardson did not play. A&M will play Mississippi Valley State today at 9 a.m. in the SWAC Tournament in Garland, Texas.

RYAN DARDENNE

Southern Arkansas catcher

Sophomore, Watson Chapel

Southern Arkansas (16-8) defeated Henderson State (13-9) 6-1 on March 9. Dardenne was 1 of 2 with a RBI, a run scored and a walk. In 23 games this season, Dardenne is batting .325 (26 of 80) with two home runs and 18 RBIs, four doubles and eight walks.

ZACH BARR

University of Central Arkansas baseball

Sophomore, White Hall

Barr pitched an inning of relief in Tuesday’s win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. In five appearances this season, Barr is 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA. He has pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing one run (earned) on four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. UCA is 14-2 on the season, including an 11-0 record at home.

CHANCE CLEVELAND

University of Arkansas-Little Rock baseball

Senior, Watson Chapel

In four starts this season, Cleveland is 2-2 with an ERA of 1.67 in 27 innings. He has allowed nine runs (five earned) on 19 hits with five walks and 25 strikeouts. Opponents have a batting average of .198. UALR is 10-7 on the season.

CLAUDE JOHNSON

Arkansas State University baseball

Junior, Pine Bluff High School

Missouri State defeated ASU 6-2 on Tuesday. Johnson was 1 of 4 with a run scored. On the season, Johnson is batting .304 (17 of 56) with 10 runs scored, a home run and seven RBIs.

COLIN MASSANELLI

Arkansas State University baseball

Sophomore, Watson Chapel

Massanelli was 1 for 4 with in Tuesday’s loss to Missouri State. In 12 games this season, Massanelli is batting .265 (13 of 49) with five runs and six RBIs.

DEION SMITH

Sophomore, Pine Bluff High School

Arkansas Baptist defeated Coahoma Community College 12-2 last week. Smith was 2 of 2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

JEFFREY WORKS

University of Ozarks baseball

Junior, Fordyce High School

The University of Ozarks lost 14-11 to Lyon College on Tuesday. Works did not play. In five appearances, Works is 0-2 with an ERA of 2.25 in 32 innings of work. He has allowed 15 runs (eight earned) on seven walks and 21 strikeouts. Opponents have a batting average of .264 against him.
