Zebras avoid collapse


After giving up five runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Pine Bluff Zebras scored a run in the bottom half to escape with a 9-8 walk-off win over the Texarkana Razorbacks on Friday night at Taylor Field.

Senior Walter Ashley scored on a passed ball to give Pine Bluff the win.

Pine Bluff starter Aaron McDonald allowed eight runs (all earned) on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He also struck out four and walked five.

J’Marlos Johnson closed out the game, allowing just one walk in 2/3 innings.

Ashley finished the game 2 of 2 with three RBIs and a run scored. He also had two walks.

Also for Pine Bluff, Demetrius Anderson was 1 for 4 with two runs scored and a RBI and Braylen Jones was had a walk and an RBI.

Pine Bluff scored a run in the second, a run in the fourth, and six in the fifth. Texarkana scored three runs in the fourth.

For Texarkana, Lavert Paxton was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs. Tamarco Collins Jr. was 2 for 3 with two runs and a RBI.
