Z’s overcome slow start, win

CONWAY — Pine Bluff rebounded from a 27-15 first-quarter deficit to take a 58-56 boys basketball victory over Harrison on Tuesday in the Conway Invitational.

Tyrone Payne led Pine Bluff (2-2) with 15 points in his season debut. He and Rickey Clements, who scored nine, played their first basketball game of the season after leading Pine Bluff to the 6A state football championship game.

Darrian Kee added 14 points and freshman Ladarius Skelton had 10 for the Zebras.

Dollarway 63, Lonoke 38

LONOKE — Davonne Chapman scored 20 points and Kabion Ento had 15 rebounds to go with 10 points in the Cardinals’ dominating victory over the Jackrabbits.

Dolalrway (5-1, 2-0 in 2-4A), which led 33-21 at halftime, hit 11 of 17 free throws and forced 17 Lonoke turnovers.

Joshua Liddell added 10 points for Dollarway.

Ridgway Christian 53, Trinity Christian 31

HAMBURG — Larry Tate scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Tanner Taylor contributed eight points in the Eagles’ road victory.

Ridgway improved to 8-2 and 5-1 in the AACS South.

Drew Central 66, Lake Village 41

MONTICELLO — Drew Central had four players in double digits and improved to 7-2 as it defeated Lake Village 66-41 Tuesday night.

Demarius Thomas led the team with 18 points. Edmond Hunter had 12, Jerelle Binns had 11 and Dilly Binns chipped in with 10.

McGehee 56, Star City 49 (OT)

McGEHEE — Marcus Miller led the Owls with 18 points and Zachary Ellis had 10.

McGehee improved to 3-1 and will host Dermott on Friday.

Warren 68, Rison 46

RISON — The Lumberjacks won their season opener behind Ryan Clary’s 18 points and Darveon Brown’s 15.

Jokenzie Broughton led the Wildcats (0-2) with 17 points.


Drew Central 73, Lake Village 37

MONTICELLO — Aaliyah Black led Drew Central with 13 points in the victory.

Lindee Eubanks had 12, Ciara Gardner had 11 and Holly Williams had 10 points for the Lady Pirates, who led 42-25 at halftime.

Fordyce 52, Hermitage 21

FORDYCE — A 22-2 first quarter for the Lady Bugs (4-3) propelled them to an easy victory over the Lady Hermits.

Lacie Hulse led Fordyce with 14 points.
