Wynn dominates on mound for Star City


STAR CITY — The Star City Bulldogs plated eight runs in the second inning as they defeated Warren 11-1 in six innings Monday night at home.

Star City’s Blake Wynn pitched four innings of relief to earn the victory. He allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts. Starter Austin Powell lasted just one inning and allowed one run (earned) on one hit with three walks and a strikeout.

Austin Capps closed out the game, allowing two hits in one inning of work. He also struck out a batter.

Warren scored its only run in the first inning. The Lumberjacks finished with four hits. Star City also scored a run in the fourth and two in the sixth. The Bulldogs combined for 10 hits.

Wynn was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Tye Brown was 2 for 3 with three runs, a walk and a RBI. Jackson Haynes was 2 for 4 with a run and a RBI.

Capps was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Lake Hamilton 8,

Sheridan 2 (Fri.)

HOT SPRINGS — Lake Hamilton scored two runs in almost every inning as the Wolves defeated Sheridan (2-5) Friday night.

Lake Hamilton scored two runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. The Wolves had 11 hits.

Sheridan’s Keaton Ramsey is tagged with the loss after pitching 2 2/3 innings and allowing four runs (four earned) with seven hits. He also allowed two walks and one strikeout.

Wyatt Daggett pitched 2 1/3 and allowed four runs (all earned) on three hits with two walks and one strikeout. Tyler McKinzie pitched the final inning and allowed just one hit.

Sheridan scored a run in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

Tadd Daggett was 2 for 3 with a walk. Evan Thompson was 1 for 2 with a RBI and two walks.

WOODLAWN — Megan Howard smashed a two-run home run in the Lady Bears’ victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

For Woodlawn (13-5, 10-2 in 7-2A East), Addison Adair went 3 for 4, Rebecca Britt was 2 for 4 and Lily Henderson struck out nine in six innings for the win.
