Tevin Brown led all scoring for Watson Chapel with 12 points, leading the Wildcats to a 56-52 win against Camden Fairview on Friday night.
Brown knew all about Central Arkansas coach Corliss Williamson when he arrived at Watson Chapel High School Friday night, according to head coach Matt Busch, whose team was defeated by the Cardinals earlier this season.
“I think that kind of inspired my guys (Williamson seated on the visitors side),” Busch said after the game. “That had some internal drives to do well individually, but they realized that the game was for us.”
Watson Chapel (9-10, 4-4 in 5A-South) played in its eighth conference game Friday night, coming off two straight losses against Magnolia and Hot Springs Lakeside on the road.
After Fairview closed to 41-38, Brown dribbled around defenders, then slipped behind a screen and drove for a layup with 5:30 remaining in the game.
SanAntonio Cole added 11 points and Ben Marcus added nine points.
