Sheridan earned the No. 5 seed in the Class 6A playoffs and a home playoff game with a 31-27 win over Texarkana on Thursday.
Texarkana (2-9, 1-6) led 12-7 at halftime, but Sheridan (4-6, 3-4) took a 14-12 lead just 21 seconds into the second half when Dylan Flores hit Tyler Raney for a 71-yard touchdown pass and a 14-12 lead. Sheridan did not trail again in the game.
The Yellowjackets extended the lead to 21-12 with 5:28 left in the third quarter on Braden Lunday’s 5-yard run.
Texarkana made it 21-20 almost three minutes later. Sheridan did not score against until there was 6:09 left in the game and Lunday scored on a 6-yard run to make it 28-20.
Texarkana scored with 3:25 left in the game to make it 28-27, but the Razorbacks did not see the ball again.
Sheridan had a third-and-seven at its own 38-yard line when Flores hit Raney for an 11-yard reception.
The Yellowjackets then moved the ball to the Texarkana 15-yard line and Micah Parker hit a 32-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the game to seal the 31-27 win.
Sheridan held Texarkana to 218 yards of total offense and the Yellowjackets had 461 total yards.
Lunday rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Flores threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 84 yards. Raney caught eight passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.
