Ridgway dominates Victory Christian


CAMDEN — Larry Tate scored 19 points and Blake Pennington pulled down 11 rebounds in leading Ridgway Christian to a 47-33 victory over Victory Christian in boys basketball.

The victory is the Eagles’ fourth in a row. All of its victories during the streak have been by double digits.

Ridgway (7-2, 4-1 AACS South) will play at Trinity Christian today in Hamburg.

GIRLS

Ridgway Christian 53, Victory Christian 32

CAMDEN — Three players scored in double figures to lead the Lady Eagles (3-6, 2-3 AACS South) to a win over Victory Christian.

Mya Ware scored 17 points, Madison Heflin had 13 and Julia Taylor added 10 to lead Ridgway.

Most of the Lady Eagles also play on the junior high team, which beat Victory 42-4. Crystal McVay led the way with 14 points, followed by Ware with 12 points and Taylor Owen with six rebounds.

Ridgway improved to 3-2 and 3-1 in the AACS South in junior high.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Jack Robey 38, Star City 28

At Jack Robey, Marquis Smith scored 14 points and Roderick Bailey had seven in leading the Colts (7-3) past the Bulldogs.

Robey won the eighth-grade game 27-10.

Dollarway 44, Lonoke 28

At Dollarway, the Cardinals (8-1, 1-0 in 2-4A) began their conference slate with a decisive win over the Jackrabbits.

Cameron Girley scored 11 points to lead Dollarway. Monterrio Shorter added eight points and Kendrick Hunter seven.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

Dollarway 45, Lonoke 36

At Dollarway, Tyneshia Lever had 14 points and Serenity Alexander contributed 12 to lead the Lady Cardinals in a game that did not count toward 2-4A Conference standings.

Dollarway came off a 45-13 win over Newport on Friday.
