Ridgway blows out Mt. Olive in home opener


The Ridgway Christian Eagles faced Mt. Olive Christian out of Louisiana Friday night.

The Eagles were able cruise to a 46-0 victory. The Andersen twins, Cody and Jacob, combined for all six touchdowns.

In the first quarter, tailback Cody Andersen scored the game’s first touchdown on a 6-yard sweep. Fullback Jacob Dedman punched in the two-point conversion. Cody Andersen would score again on a 5-yard run up the middle on the next drive. Quarterback Jacob Anderson would complete the two-point converstion on an option keeper.

In the second quarter, Cody Andersen would score on a 12-yard sweep. Dedman was there to complete the two-point conversion on a dive play. Just before the half, Jacob Andersen scored on a 4-yard quarterback option, but the Eagles’ failed the two-point conversion. They would go into the locker room up 30-0 at the half.

Cody Andersen would add to the lead in the third quarter, on a 2-yard run up the middle. Jacob Andersen would score the two-point conversion on a quarterback sneak. Lucas Blake and Tanner Taylor combined for a safety to extend the lead to 40-0.

The game’s final touchdown came on a 60-yard touchdown run from Jacob Anderson, to bring the final score to 46-0. Cody Andersen and Jacob Dedman play both sides of the ball for Ridgway. Andersen had 13 tackles and one sack at the linebacker position. Dedman and Ezra Tole each had seven tackles. Tole also had a sack. Ridgway Christian will host Southwest Christian next Friday at 5 p.m.

Fordyce 14, Monticello 7

MONTICELLO — The Fordyce Redbugs were able to come from behind to defeat the Monticello Billies on Friday night. Muddy conditions played a negative role for both teams.

The Billies led the Redbugs 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Fordyce battled back in the second quarter. Quarterback Jabiez Sledge connected with Gary Cross on a 27-yard touchdown pass. Charles York completed the two-point conversion. The Redbugs went into the half with the lead 8-7.

In the third quarter, Sledge would extend the lead with a 3-yard touchdown run. Fordyce would miss the extra point attempt. Neither team would score in the fourth quarter, making the final score 14-7. Sledge was the leading rusher for the Redbugs, with 19 carries for 72 yards. Fordyce will host Genoa Central next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
