Preps Roundup: Zebras score big in OT at Conway

CONWAY — Pine Bluff outscored Conway 20-15 in overtime to come away with a 79-74 boys basketball victory Friday night in the Conway Invitational.

Rickey Clements scored 27 points to lead the Zebras (3-2), who will play Jacksonville at 8:30 tonight for the championship. Darrian Kee added 11 points for Pine Bluff.

Conway came from a 46-32 deficit after three quarters to pull even with Pine Bluff.

Watson Chapel 63, Little Rock Catholic 60

CABOT — A 20-6 third quarter helped the Wildcats (3-2) overcome a 31-25 halftime deficit and go on to beat the Rockets in a tournament here.

Tevin Brown led Watson Chapel with 13 points. He was followed by Benjamin Marcus with 12.

The Wildcats will play Paragould at 3 p.m. today.

Star City 53, El Dorado 46

STAR CITY — Three Bulldogs scored in double figures, leading their team to a win over the Wildcats.

Lavonte Gardner led Star City (4-2) with 14 points. D.J. Pace followed with 13 points and Reshod Davis added 10.

Chris White led El Dorado with 13 points.

Dumas 63, Hamburg 28

DUMAS — The Bobcats (4-1, 1-0 in 8-4A) opened conference play with a big victory over the Lions.

Martavian Ward had 13 points and Demarian Freeman added 11 for the Bobcats, who will play at McGehee on Tuesday.

McGehee 80, Dermott 52

McGEHEE – The Owls defeated the Rams by 28 Friday night to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Marcus Miller led McGehee with 16 points, while Tracey Lawson and Zachary Ellis each had 11.

McGehee will play again Tuesday at home against Dumas.


Star City 54, El Dorado 22

STAR CITY — The Lady Bulldogs (8-1) picked up their second victory over the Lady Wildcats this season behind Tyeshia Harris’ 22 points and Jada Harden’s 16.

Star City, which led 24-13 at halftime, shut out El Dorado 14-0 in the final quarter.

Dumas 46, Hamburg 15

DUMAS — Whitney Henderson scored 25 points for the Lady Cats (4-2, 1-0 in 8-4A) in their conference-opening victory over the Lady Lions.
