Owls comeback from 14 down for overtime win


PRESCOTT — Prescott had a 14 points lead with less than four minutes left, but McGehee was able to battle back and the Owls won in overtime 48-42.

McGehee (7-1, 4-1 6-3A Conference) got within seven points when Steven King scored on a 3-yard run with 2:38 remaining.

The Owls, which handed Prescott (6-2, 4-1) its first conference loss, then had an onside kick that they recovered.

McGehee then tied the game at 42 on King’s 5-yard run with 1:09 remaining.

Prescott was able to drive to the Owls’ 45-yard line before time expired and sent the game into overtime.

King scored the winning touchdown in overtime from the 3-yard line, but the Owls failed to convert on the extra point.

Prescott, which started on defense in the extra period, drove to McGehee’s 7-yard line, but on fourth-and-7, the pass was incomplete to cap the Owls’ comeback.
