WHITE HALL — Cole Guy’s much-decorated tennis career will continue at Oral Roberts University.
Guy, who recently graduated from White Hall, signed his letter-of-intent with the Southland Conference school Tuesday. The commitment caps a high school career that includes one overall and two state championships.
Guy won the 5A and overall doubles championships with his brother Josh in 2010. The next year, he claimed the 5A singles championship and placed second overall. He also won one doubles and three conference singles titles.
He was named the outstanding senior boys tennis player at White Hall for this school year and is ranked No. 1 in the boys 18-under division in Arkansas by the United States Tennis Association. He was ranked as high as No. 61 in the USTA Southern Section.
Guy also received an ORU Presidents Academic Scholarship worth $32,000 over four years. A prospective pre-medicine or finance major, Guy’s final grade-point average was 3.8 while taking Advanced Placement classes throughout high school.
He was inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, the National Mathematics Honor Society, in 2011 and was designated an Arkansas Scholar this year. He also was a member of the Beta Club and Gifted and Talented Education program at White Hall.
