McGehee breezes past Dermott, 75-55


DERMOTT — The McGehee Owls boys basketball team defeated the Dermott Rams 75-55 Tuesday night thanks to five players scoring in the double digits.

Led by Tre-Bon Spratt with 18, the Owls grabbed a 13-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. At halftime, McGehee led 35-21.

McGehee’s Zachary Ellis had 15 points, Marcus Miller had 12, Kenny Lewis had 11 and Tracey Lawson chipped in with 10 points. McGehee improves to 1-0 and its next game is scheduled for Nov. 29 at Dumas.

GIRLS

McGehee 69, Dermott 35

Led by freshman Shakyla Begnaud with 45 points, the Lady Owls defeated the Lady Rams 69-35 Tuesday night.

McGehee led 11-10 after the first quarter and 26-13 at the end of the first half. It was 46-27 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Owls improve to 1-0 and will visit Dumas on Nov. 29.

NINTH GRADE BOYS

Dollarway 55, Sheridan 29

SHERIDAN — The Dollarway ninth grade boys basketball team defeated Sheridan 55-29 Tuesday night.

Dollarway led 18-4 at the end of the first quarter and were up 30-13 at the end of the first half. Dollarway’s Sharodrick Williams led all scorers with 11 points. Chris Slater chipped in with 10 points.

Dollarway’s Kendrick Hunter, Monterrio Shorter and Cameron Girley all scored eight points. Dollarway improves to 7-0 and will play again next Thursday at Jack Robey beginning at 4:30 p.m.

In girls basketball, Dollarway dropped to 6-1 on the season with a 37-27 loss to Sheridan.
