Marion repeats as SEARK Holiday champion


MONTICELLO — Marion repeated as the Southeast Arkansas Holiday Tournament boys champion Saturday, getting 14 points from Dereon Thomas in a 65-48 victory over Drew Central at Steelman Fieldhouse on the Arkansas-Monticello campus.

Jerelle Binns led Drew Central with 14 points. Dilly Binns added 11.

Last year, Marion beat Monticello in the final.

Monticello 55, Bastrop (La.) 46

MONTICELLO — Christian Robertson netted 24 points in leading the Billies to a third-place finish in the SEARK Holiday Tournament.

Torry Butler scored 10 for Monticello. Bastrop was led by Jay Wilson with 21 points.

McGehee 73, White Hall 60

MONTICELLO — The Owls beat the Bulldogs in the consolation final of the SEARK Holiday Tournament.

Tyler Pirson led White Hall with 11 points.

Warren 63, Gurdon 47

HAMPTON — The Lumberjacks (5-0) outscored the Go-Devils 28-10 in the fourth quarter on their way to the championship at a tournament here.

Ryan Clary scored 25 points to lead Warren, while Von Eric Gonder added 11.

Gurdon led 25-18 at halftime.

GIRLS

Sheridan 42, Drew Central 29

MONTICELLO — The Lady Jackets wound up with quite a finish for being a late addition to the SEARK Holiday Tournament — first place.

Bryanna Moltz scored 13 points, Kadesha Cooper had 11, and Sheridan contained Drew Central in Saturday’s title game.

Aaliyah Block and Cierra Gardner each scored 10 points to lead the Lady Pirates.

McGehee 48, White Hall 41 (2OT)

MONTICELLO — Shakyla Begnaud registered her second 28-point game of the SEARK Holiday Tournament, this one coming in a double-overtime victory for third place.

Raven Burks chipped in 14 points for the Lady Owls. Alexis Winston led White Hall with 13.

Dumas 38, Stuttgart 37

MONTICELLO — The consolation final of the SEARK Holiday Tournament went down to the wire, as Terlecia Railey’s 18 points were just enough to push the Lady Cats past the Lady Ricebirds.

Haley Johnson had 15 points to lead Stuttgart.

Watson Chapel 48, Greenbrier 29

GREENBRIER — Jasmine Bell led three Watson Chapel players in double figures with 14 points as the Lady Wildcats (6-6) downed the Lady Panthers in the Battle at the ‘Brier tournament.

Kamera Bozeman added 12 points and Chelsea Payne 11 for Watson Chapel, which built a 29-12 halftime lead.

Star City 60, Rose Bud 21

HEBER SPRINGS — Tyeshia Harris scored 24 points and collected five rebounds in pacing the Lady Bulldogs (10-4) to a victory over the Lady Ramblers in the Heber Springs Holiday Classic.

Lindsay Kiernan threw in nine points and four boards for Star City, which held Rose Bud to single-digit scoring in each quarter.
