Liddell wins two events, leads Cards to second in 2-4A

HEBER SPRINGS — Joshua Liddell won the 400-meter dash and the triple jump Wednesday in the 2-4A District Meet, helping Dollarway take second in team standings.

Dollarway’s 133 points trailed only Heber Springs, which finished with 227. Stuttgart was fourth with 53.

Liddell ran the 400 in 51.23 seconds and triple-jumped a distance of 43 feet, 11.5 inches. Also for the Cardinals, Jeremiah Young won the shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 2.5 inches and placed second in the discus (119-11).

Dollarway gained more points in the 100-meter dash, where Henry Murphy, James Smith and Keshawn Williams took the second, third and fourth places, respectively. Kabion Ento came in second in the high jump with a 5-10 leap.

In girls competition, Stuttgart was third with 80 points and Dollarway finished tied for sixth with 33.

Tasharra Dawkins of Stuttgart won the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 10.25 inches. Akeeva Howard of Dollarway was second at 29-9.75.

Rison girls second in 7-2A East

MONTICELLO — Rison finished second in the girls standings of the 7-2A East District Meet on Wednesday at Monticello High School.

Rison collected 174.5 points, 16 behind Bearden.

Winners from Rison included Julia Martin in the 3,200 meters (17:20.32) and the 4x800 relay team (13:27.89).

In boys action, Rison finished sixth with 43 points. No Rison entries won any boys events.

Junction City won the boys team title with 296 points. Bearden was second with 80.

The 8-4A and 6A-South district meets were held Thursday in Monticello and Texarkana, respectively.
