HOPE — Same score, different round.

White Hall on Saturday matched the score from last year’s 5A softball state championship game, beating Vilonia 5-2 this time in a 5A semifinal. The Lady Bulldogs (23-5) will try to defend the title when they play Greenbrier at 5:30 p.m. next Saturday at the University of Arkansas’ Bogle Park.

Greenbrier beat Paragould 8-3 on Saturday.

Abby Weaver, coming off a two-home run game against Alma on Friday, launched another shot in the third inning after Lauren Graves drove in two runs on a single to give White Hall the lead. Weaver was 3 for 3 Saturday with two doubles.

Rachel Box hit 2 for 3, Sydnee Clark went 1 for 4 and Lindsey Williams was 1 for 2 for White Hall.

Vilonia had a 1-0 lead after the first and fell behind 3-1 in the third. White Hall scored a run each in the fifth and sixth and Vilonia added a run in the seventh.

Russellville 4, Sheridan 3 (8 inn.)

RUSSELLVILLE — A day after striking out 18 in a no-hit performance against Lake Hamilton, Andrea Kendrick allowed seven hits against Sheridan, but they weren’t enough for the Lady Jackets as they dropped their third 6A semifinal in four years.

Kendrick doubled to score the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning. She then retired a batter on a pop-up bunt and struck out the last two to end Sheridan’s season at 26-3.

Kendrick put the Cyclones on the board with a one-run double in the fourth inning, their only earned run. But the Lady Jackets took a 3-1 lead on a Morgan Cotton two-run double and Madison Crosby RBI single.

Russellville scored on an error with two outs in the fifth and another unearned run in the sixth. Three errors plagued Sheridan in the game.

Lauren Mitchell went 1 for 3 with a walk for Sheridan. Sidney Bonner struck out six in the defeat.

Russellville will play Benton, an 8-0 winner over Mountain Home, for the state title at 2 p.m. Friday in Fayetteville.
