Fumbles start Jack Robey’s romp


LITTLE ROCK — The Jack Robey junior high team recovered two fumbles on two straight possessions against Little Rock McClellan and turned them into two scores as it went on to win 38-0.

Tiran Compton recovered the first fumble and on the first play, Ladarius Skelton hit Joseph Scott for a 32-yard touchdown and an 8-0 lead.

Then, Scott recovered a fumble and two plays later, David Beasley hauled in a 40-yard pass from Skelton for a 16-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Jack Robey (5-0) went up 22-0 on Romar Reades 85-yard touchdown run. He finished with 100 yards on three carres.

Right before the half, Skelton hit Beasley again for a 10-yard touchdown and a 30-0 lead. Skelton finished 5-of-6 passing for 126 yards.

Jack Robey’s final score came on Cameron Robertson’s 16-yard run.

Jack Robey plays on Thursday at El Dorado and the eighth grade team plays on Monday at home against Stuttgart.

WATSON CHAPEL 48, SYLVAN HILLS 6

SYLVAN HILLS — The Watson Chapel junior high team scored 40 straight points before Sylvan Hills got on the board in a 48-6 win on Thursday.

Jemarius West scored first for Watson Chapel (5-0, 4-0 in the River City Conference) as he reached the end zone on a 40-yard punt return and an 8-0 lead.

Trayvion Woods got in the end zone next on a 47-yard run and Simeon Blair hit Trayvarious Cole for a 52-yard pass for a 24-0 halftime lead.

Blair hit Cole for another touchdown, this time a 54-yarder, on the first possession of the second half.

Corey Jackson added a defensive score with a 49-yard fumble recovery and a 40-0 lead before Sylvan Hills scored a touchdown.

Cole got the final score for Watson Chapel on an 80-yard kickoff return.

Watson Chapel had 247 total yard — 99 rushing and 128 passing. Blair was 4 of 4 passing for 128 yards.

Watson Chapel plays Thursday in Little Rock against Pulaski Academy.

DOLLARWAY 32, CLINTON 30

CLINTON — Kacy Higgins completed a 78-yard touchdown pass to Kendrick Hunter with 1:10 left, giving Dollarway a 32-30 victory over Clinton on Thursday.

The touchdown was Hunter’s third of the night. He finished with 168 all-purpose yards for Dollarway (3-1, 3-0 in 2-4A).

Also for the Cardinals, Markel Scott ran for two touchdowns and 137 yards, and Higgins completed 3 of 8 passes for 152 yards.
