Fordyce rolls in conference win

GENOA – The Fordyce Redbugs struck early, often and late here Friday night, opening their 6-3A Conference campaign with a 55-15 spanking of Genoa Central.

Fordyce (1-0, 4-0) scurried to a 35-0 halftime lead and were never truly threatened by Genoa (0-1, 2-2).

Among those scoring touchdowns for Fordyce were Rashad Allen, Larry Buckley, Brayden Chambers, Austin Perry, Josh Stroud and Charles York. Cole Johnson passed for three touchdowns while Chambers threw for another, and York – who was on the receiving end of one of Johnson’s scoring strikes – notched a defensive touchdown on the game’s final play with a fumble recovery return.

Coach Tim Rodgers’ Redbugs will host Fouke next week in Fordyce’s homecoming game.
