Colts go to 6-0 after big second half


EL DORADO — Jack Robey broke a scoreless tie midway through the third quarter and got running and passing touchdowns from Ladarius Skelton in a 22-0 victory over El Dorado in freshman football action Thursday night.

Braylen Jones recovered a fumble to set up the first scoring drive. Skelton ran 53 yards for the opening score with 4:44 left in the third and Romar Reades ran in for the extra two points.

On fourth-and-goal with 33 seconds left in the period, Skelton threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to David Beasley and rushed for the extra two to make it 16-0.

Reades capped the scoring on an 11-yard run with 4:46 left in the game. He finished wth 115 yards on 14 carries, and Skelton had 91 yards on nine carries.

John Tate also recovered a fumble for the winning Colts (6-0).

In eighth-grade play, El Dorado beat Jack Robey 9-0, handing the Colts their first loss. Eddie Bell intercepted a pass and Teran-Te Harris recovered a fumble and sacked a player for the Colts (3-1).

Pulaski Academy 52, Watson Chapel 30

LITTLE ROCK — The Bruins (6-0, 5-0 River City Conference) scored on every drive but the last and overcame a 16-8 deficit to beat the Wildcats (5-1, 4-1) in a battle for first place in the conference.

Pulaski Academy’s quarterback accounted for each touchdown, throwing for four and rushing for three. Watson Chapel gained 202 of its 204 total yards on the ground, while PA totaled 477 yards.

Trayvarious Cole ran 54 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game to give the Wildcats the early lead. After PA tied it, Travion Woods rushed 45 yards for a score to put Watson Chapel back in front. Cole rushed for both conversions.

But PA couldn’t be stopped and built a 32-16 lead at halftime.

Watson Chapel cut it to 38-24 after Woods ran 10 yards for a TD in the third quarter. PA went back up by 22 with another score, but in the fourth, Cole returned a kickoff 65 yards for another touchdown. The Bruins added one last TD to close the scoring.

White Hall 20, Bauxite 6

BAUXITE — The White Hall junior high football team scored two touchdowns in the second half to pull away for a 20-6 victory over Bauxite Thursday.

Jared Chavis scored White Hall’s (2-4) first touchdown on a 2-yard run. Clay Dickerson added the extra point to make it 7-0 Bulldogs in the first quarter.

Bauxite did score a touchdown in the second quarter, but was unable to convert the extra point, giving White Hall a 7-6 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, C.J. Shelton helped White hall distance itself from Bauxite with a 1-yard touchdown run and Dickerson tacked on the kick for a 14-7 lead.

Kaleb Cobb sealed the victory for White Hall with a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter to make it 20-6.

White Hall plays at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Watson Chapel.
