Chapel finishes undefeated in conference


HOT SPRINGS — The Watson Chapel Lady Wildcats withstood a pretty tough contest Thursday night as they defeated Hot Springs 70-68 to finish the regular season undefeated in the 5A-South.

Senior Kamera Bozeman led Chapel (20-6, 14-0) with 22 points. Junior Kierra Cox contributed with 13 and senior Jasmine Bell chipped in with 11 points.

Hot Springs hit a three-pointer at the end of the game to cut Watson Chapel’s lead to just two points. Chapel lead 24-20 at halftime.

The Lady Wildcats will face Nettleton on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the first round of the state tournament.

BOYS

Watson Chapel 65,

Hot Springs 43

HOT SPRINGS — The Watson Chapel Wildcats closed out the regular season with a 65-43 win over Hot Springs Thursday night.

The win guarantees Chapel the fourth seed for the state tournament, which will be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

Jalen Courtney led Chapel (13-12, 8-6) with 18 points and Demetrius Dukes scored 17 points.

Watson Chapel will face Beebe in the first round.

4A South Region GIRLS

Central Arkansas Christian 73,

Monticello 51

ARKADELPHIA — Central Arkansas Christian sophomore Sydnie Jones scored 40 points as the Lady Mustangs knocked off Monticello 73-51 in the quarterfinals of the 4A South Region tournament at Ouachita Baptist University.

CAC led 34-23 at halftime as junior Falan Miller contributed with 18 points.

For Monticello (14-12, 10-4 in the 8-4A Conference), Erin Campbell led with 17 points.

CAC will face Malvern today at 4 p.m. in the semifinals.

3A Region-4 GIRLS

Drew Central 52,

Genoa Central 31

PRESCOTT — The Drew Central Lady Pirates held Genoa Central to single digits in all four quarters as they won 52-31 in the quarterfinals of the 3A Region 4 tournament at Prescott.

Kari Milton led Drew Central (21-10) with 16 points and Cierra Gardner contributed with 10 points.

Drew Central will face Centerpoint today at 4 p.m. in the semifinals.

3A Region 4 BOYS

Prescott 68, Fordyce 60

PRESCOTT — The Fordyce Redbugs were eliminated by host team Prescott 68-60 Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the 3A Region 4 tournament.

Prescott will face Drew Central today at 8:30 p.m.
