MALVERN — Watson Chapel started its junior high football season in dominating fashion Tuesday, beating Malvern 36-8.
Watson Chapel took a 20-0 lead at halftime, thanks in part to 55- and 40-yard touchdown runs by Trayvion Woods. Traydarious Cole started the scoring with a 60-yard scamper, followed by Woods’ two-point conversion run. Another conversion followed Woods’ second touchdown.
On the first play of the second half, Cole ran 80 yards for a TD and Woods added the extra two to extend the lead to 28-0. Michael Williams made it 36-0 with a 25-yard scoring run and a conversion.
Watson Chapel coach Jared Dutton said his defense played great all night. The unit didn’t allow Malvern to score until 12 seconds were left in the game.
