Cards remain unbeaten in 2-4A


STUTTGART — The Dollarway Cardinals held the Stuttgart Ricebirds to single digits in the first, second and fourth quarters as they won 39-28 Tuesday in boys basketball.

Junior Kabion Ento led Dollarway with 12 points and senior DeAaron Adway contributed nine points.

Dollarway improves to 13-1 and 4-0 in 8-4A Conference. The Cardinals will host Clinton on Friday night.

HS Lakeside 43, Watson Chapel 31

At Watson Chapel, the host Wildcats slipped to 0-2 in the 5A-South Conference with a 13-point loss to the Hot Springs Lakeside Rams.

Charles Owens had eight points and Tevin Brown added seven for Watson Chapel (5-9), which trailed 21-13 at halftime.

Watson Chapel will host DeQueen on Friday.

Dumas 65, DeWitt 40

DEWITT — Martavian Ward led all scorers with 27 points to lift Dumas (8-6, 3-1 in 8-4A conference) past DeWitt 65-40 Tuesday night.

Dumas’ Lonzo Randolph contributed with 14 points. Dumas led 31-23 at half.

For DeWitt, Learis Williams scored 11 points and Tyren Robinson chipped in with eight points.

Dumas will host conference opponent Star City Friday night at home.

El Dorado 56, Sheridan 55

EL DORADO — The Sheridan Yellowjackets’ winning streak ended at nine games as the El Dorado Wildcats won 56-55 Tuesday night.

Junior Dylan Morris led the Yellowjackets with 15 points. Juniors Austen Theiss, Griffin Smith, Chris Whitman contributed with eight points each.

Sheridan dropped to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the 7A/6A South and will host conference leader Benton on Friday night.

GIRLS

Watson Chapel 67, HS Lakeside 31

At Watson Chapel, the Lady Wildcats improved to 8-6 and 2-0 in the 5A-South with a dominating performance against the Lady Rams.

Star City 72, Warren 23

STAR CITY — Star City held Warren to just two points in the second half as the Lady Dogs routed the Lady Jacks 72-23.

Tyeshia Harris led Star City with 17 points and Jaida Harden scored 15. Jade Brasser chipped in with eight.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Dollarway 45, Stuttgart 28

STUTTGART — Dollarway’s Chris Slater and Kendrick Hunter scored 13 and 11 points respectively as the Cardinals defeated Stuttgart 45-28.

Dollarway shot 50 percent from the line and led 24-14 at half. The Cardinals improved to 14-2 and 3-0 in conference.

On Saturday, Dollarway defeated Pulaski Academy 47-38. Hunter had 13 points, including three three-pointers.

Monticello 48, Jack Robey 45 (Mon.)

MONTICELLO — Roderick Bailey scored 19 points and C.J. Smith had 13 for the Colts in a losing effort.

Robey won the eighth-grade game 27-20.
