Broady lifts Fillies

Victoria Broady hit a bank shot – her only basket of the night – with 1.3 seconds left to give the Pine Bluff Fillies a 40-39 win at home over the Bryant Lady Hornets.

Bryant called a timeout, but the inbounds pass was not handled cleanly before time expired.

Pine Bluff (13-3, 2-0 7A/6A-South) led 25-13 at the half, but the Lady Hornets outscored the Fillies 13-5 in the third quarter to close the gap.

Bryant junior Courtney Davidson, who led all scorers with 19, gave the Lady Hornets (6-10, 0-2) a lead with a jump shot with less than 5 seconds left.

But with the clock winding down, Broady quickly moved down the court and got off a shot that banked hard off the backboard and went in.

Ajia Richardson led Pine Bluff with 11 points and Jalan Williams contributed with 10.

For Bryant, senior Logan Davis and junior Dezare Duckworth chipped in with nine points each.

Pine Bluff, which currently leads its conference, will host Lake Hamilton on Friday. Bryant will travel to Little Rock Fair.
