HOT SPRINGS — Devonte Battles scored four touchdowns and SanAntonio Cole threw for two more as Watson Chapel picked up a 41-23 5A-South Conference win over Hot Springs.
Hot Springs got the board first when Zach Knapp hit a 42-yard field goal with 8:53 to go in the first.
Watson Chapel (3-1) responded with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Cole to Justin Jones to take a 7-3 lead 11 seconds later.
Battles, who rushed for 152 yards, added his first touchdown of the game with 11 seconds left in the first quarter for the 15-3 lead.
Hot Springs pulled within five points on Kenny Kelley’s 3-yard run with 6:31 left before halftime, but the Wildcats got another big strike from Cole as he hit Jordan Stargell for a 75-yard touchdown and a 21-10 halftime lead.
Hot Springs struck first in the third quarter to make it 21-16, but Battles scored on runs of 15- and 42-yard runs later in the period.
Down 33-16, Michael Webb returned an interception for a touchdown before Battles scored his fourth touchdown on a 66-yard run to seal the game for Watson Chapel.
Cole finished with 198 yards passing and James Collier added 50 yards rushing on five carries.
