Preachers must stand up for public safety

Editor, The Commercial:

I can’t understand why the Christian community is so very quiet and not standing up for what has happened in our city. For peace sake, can you believe that four ministers voted to keep night clubs open until 5 a.m.?

As ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we must be concerned about public safety in our city. Before business will move here, public safety must first be on the agenda. Preachers, I believe you have read your Bible; if not read this: Proverbs 20:1: “Wine is a mocker, strong drink, a brawler, and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.”

I Corinthians 6:9-10: or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.

I Kings 18:21, Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him. But the people did not answer him a word.

Or II Corinthians 6:14-18.

Preachers and churchgoers, if fear be your God, follow it. If night clubs be your God, follow them. If hypocrisy be your God, follow it. But if the Lord be your God, follow Him.

Preachers you have not come against Mayor Debe Hollingsworth; you have come against God’s word and you will suffer for it because you can’t win.

I am open for any and all criticism — my number is 541-0177. I love you brothers, but if I have to stand alone, I will be on the Lord’s side.
