PNH patient reaches goal for transplant

To my family, friends, and so many kind hearted individuals … WE DID IT!!!

It was nearly four months ago when my doctors informed me that I had proxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) which is a rare and serious blood disease that causes red blood cells to break apart. I learned that without a bone marrow transplant, I would not live.

If that news was not bad enough, I needed $62,000 to pay for it even with medical insurance. Some just cried, some said that by the time she gets that much money it will be too late, and some wanted to help but couldn’t. One thing we always counted on was the power of prayer and the power of love from the hundreds of family members, friends, and kind-hearted individuals like you.

No matter how big or small the kindness was, I want you to know that you are truly appreciated and it is because of your love, your many prayers and your generosity that I am still alive today. I will be on my way to M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas, for my bone marrow transplant very soon.

I know that I must continue receiving costly treatments that I feel my insurance and family will be able to cover, however, I am closing my fundraising campaign efforts now because I have what is required to pay my part of the transplant, medical, and other expenses that go along with getting a bone marrow transplant. As you have helped me pass the news on before, please let others know this great news as well.

My parents and I just want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts.
