On April 4 the Pine Bluff Symphony and the Pine Bluff Orchestra Association (PBOA) of the Pine Bluff School District held a Taco Salad Supper fundraiser to support both organizations. I have not heard the bottom line on our profits, but I consider it a great success in many ways. I want to extend my thanks on behalf of the PBOA to all who contributed their time and talents to the evening. Ellen Stutchman and Ellen Nuckolls were instrumental in organizing and coordinating the fundraising effort. The Pine Bluff High School cafeteria staff was so helpful and tireless in getting the food ready. The parents of the PBOA, members of the Pine Bluff Symphony, UAPB students and SEARK students volunteered to decorate, serve food, take up tickets, work the drive thru and a myriad of other jobs they were asked to perform. The community supported us by buying tickets, and some were rewarded by the performances of the Belair and Southeast Middle School Orchestra, all conducted by Gabriel Bruce. The finale was this year’s Pink Panther performance, presented by the Pine Bluff High School Orchestra, with directors Christie Bonds and Bobby Brown.
It was great to have so many in the community work together toward a worthwhile cause. The public is invited to attend the Pine Bluff High School Orchestra spring concert on April 29 and the Middle School and Junior High concert on May 2. Both concerts will be at the Arts and Science Center at 7:00.
