Editor, The Commercial:
The arrival of Walgreens in our community causes me mixed emotions. On one hand I am glad to have another large national pharmacy locate in Pine Bluff. Some Walgreen Pharmacies stay open 24 hours a day which would be a plus.
On the other hand I am troubled with the fact that Walgreens has mutually decided not to accept Tricare Insurance. While I do not have Tricare Insurance nor represent Tricare, I am aware this is the insurance that provides medical insurance services to our military.
I am reminded if we are thankful for freedom of speech, the opportunity to secure an education and the ability to speak English, to whom should we be thankful? Before we thank a politician or teacher we need to hit our knees and give thanks to our military personnel who really provide these rights and freedoms for all of us, including Walgreens.
If pricing is the problem I suggest Walgreens sell a lot more of their product to Tricare participants for a little less price. After all, selling a lot more for less seems to have been a real success story for Wal-Mart.
Can I get an Amen?
